oliveira do hospital, coimbra, portugal
2020 - in progress
a disused olive mill in a small village, where it served for pressing and keeping olive oil, storage and animal shed, will now be a small vacation lodge. The design tries to emphasise the relation with the courtyard, also benefiting from it's natural light. With small exceptional openings towards the street, the building is turned to the interior, not only the sleeping rooms, but also living room and kitchen. Non-evasive materials like wood, glass and ceramics were used, not also to make a contrast with the stone structure, but also to add a new feeling of comfort.
